Digital Ash Dieback Management
Thursday 22 October
12:00pm to 1:00pm
Speaker: Michaella Burg – Senior Data Scientist, Mott MacDonald and Alan Hendry – Glasgow City Lead, Mott MacDonald
Moata Ash Dieback is a targeted digital solution developed to support a more efficient and risk-based approach to ash dieback management. By bringing together survey data, geospatial context and asset information, it helps teams identify priority locations, improve consistency in decision-making and maintain an audit trail for interventions. This presentation will show how digital workflows with AI can strengthen planning, coordination and traceability when managing affected tree populations across the highway network. Already deployed across multiple authorities, the approach is scalable and adaptable, with applications extending to other asset types, such as pavement condition and road asset identification, supporting a more proactive and informed approach to infrastructure management. Presenters will include Michaella Burg, and Alan Hendry.
Michaella Burg is a Senior Data Scientist at Mott MacDonald focused on applying data science and digital methods to real-world infrastructure problems. She will discuss the technical delivery of the Moata Ash Dieback solution.
Alan Hendry, who is Mott MacDonald’s Glasgow City Lead, will describe the wider context to the project and our engagement of a wide range of stakeholders re the use of the felled wood and supporting Glasgow City Council’s wider circular economy and sustainability ambitions.
