As part of our commitment to giving back to our members, the IHE is pleased to launch four bursary programmes this year, providing valuable opportunities for professional development and growth.
Following the success of our bursaries in 2025, applications are now open for 2026.
These initiatives are designed to give back to IHE members by supporting both aspiring and established professionals in the field of highway engineering. The bursaries aim to foster professional growth, encourage innovation, and promote inclusivity within the industry, marking a significant milestone in the IHE’s ongoing commitment to its members.
Early Years Award Bursary: This bursary aims to assist IHE students pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate degrees in civil or transportation engineering. Offering three awards of £1,000 each, it encourages academic excellence and dedication to the field.
Professional Registration Bursary: Targeted at IHE members seeking professional registration at IEng or CEng level, this bursary provides up to four awards of £2,500 each. It can be used to cover costs such as training, mentoring, or even childcare, helping members overcome financial barriers in their journey towards incorporated / chartered status.
Personal / Industry Development Bursary: With funding ranging from £1,000 to £20,000, this bursary supports IHE members in pursuing advanced training, certifications, or innovative projects which will have a positive future impact on the industry.
Academic Bursary: This bursary aims to offer academic staff support to obtain professional registration with the IHE to meet the requirements of the Joint Board of Moderators (JBM) in the delivery of civil engineering degrees.
The deadline for applications has been extended to Friday 9th October 2026 at 5pm.
