Chartered IT Professional (CITP)

In addition to Engineering Council registration, the IHE is licensed by BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, to award Registration for Chartered IT Professional (CITP).

What is CITP registration?

CITP is the only Chartered IT registration to validate your technical expertise and professional behaviours, endorsing not just what you know but how you apply it — with focus on how your ethical values are reflected in your performance.

Underpinned by research and developed in collaboration with government and industry experts, the CITP standard has evolved with the changing digital landscape to recognise the depth and breadth of your technical skills, and how you interact and apply your skills professionally and ethically in your own field and beyond.

When you make your application, you can define your field of specialism by evidencing your skills and understanding in that area. CITP specialist registration is now available for the disciplines of cyber security, data and analytics, Leadership, Change and Transformation and Education and Training, with more specialisms being introduced in the coming months. But don’t delay your application; become Chartered now and you can apply to add your specialism to your registration when it becomes available.

What happens when I achieve CITP registration?

• Public register – Confirm your place among the most influential IT professionals in the industry by appearing in the public register of Chartered IT Professionals
• Certificate of current competence – On registration, you’re awarded a certificate of current competence which is valid for five years. To extend your certificate after the initial five-year period, you’ll be invited to submit evidence of your CPD and continued competence in your specialist area.
• Get involved – Your knowledge, experience and opinion are valuable commodities which you can invest in BCS to support your CPD as well as the development of our industry.
  • Mentoring network – inspiring another person and seeing them progress and benefit from your knowledge and insight is a hugely rewarding experience.
  • Volunteering – grow your professional network, and the profile of your field, by taking an active role in the running of our membership community.

Revalidation

Registrants are required to undertake revalidation to demonstrate that they remain current within the industry. Currently this is every 3 years and an application form can be found in the IHE members area under’ Professional Registration/Chartered IT Professional’.
