The IHE established the Highway Inspectors Board in 2011. Candidates who successfully complete the courses run by an approved centre are eligible for inclusion on the National Register of Highway Inspectors for a period of five years.
Once you’ve completed the course successfully, you can apply to be added to the IHE Highways Inspectors Register.
Update
The UK asset management board has produced a competency framework for highway inspectors (HICF), (see pages 16-18), which complements the advice given in Well-managed Highway Infrastructure. The Highway Inspectors Board, run by the IHE, has included this framework in its procedures and any highway inspectors undergoing training through the IHE scheme will be fully compliant with the new advice.
