The IHE is supporting an initiative by the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation called Improving Local Highways, which will review local highway funding, governance, and operations.
The local highway network is a key enabler for local growth but public satisfaction is low and this has become not just a local but a national concern. This work follows the Transport Select Committee’s inquiry into local roads funding and governance. IHE chief executive Richard Hayes appeared at an oral evidence session for the committee. A write-up can be found in the December 2018 Highways.
