Traffex Returning to Birmingham’s NEC in June

  • Wednesday March 23, 2022

The most eagerly anticipated event of 2022 will undoubtedly be the return of Traffex / Parkex to Birmingham’s NEC from 14-16th June. For the first time in three years, the UK’s flagship traffic, transport and parking event will reunite the sector, giving everyone the chance to catch up in person and explore, first-hand, the many advances that have been developed since the event last took place.

The Traffex Conference, which runs throughout the three open days, promises an ambitious agenda. Baroness Vere of Norbiton, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State – Minister for Roads, Buses and Places, DfT – will give the keynote address live in the Transport Network Theatre on the opening morning.

The conference itself will be split into two separate streams: The Highways Theatre will focus on day-to-day operations, fixed infrastructure and civil engineering, while the Transport Network/Mobility Theatre will explore highways technology and ‘future challenges’, including connected vehicles, AI, datasets, delivering on decarbonisation, mobility, active travel, EVs and more.

Steve Spender, Chief Executive, Institute of Highway Engineers (IHE) will be speaking at the event and sits on the conference steering committee. Steve comments: “As always Traffex is looking to raise the issues that the Highway Sector faces in the challenging times that we live in, both in terms of the impact our sector has on the environmental agenda and the advances that continue to be developed in the use of new and emerging technology. We need to be far more aware of our responsibilities to be more sustainable in our approach whilst continuing to identify and embrace the technological advances that are being brought forward to assist us in meeting these challenges now and in the future.”

Craig Donovan, Traffex Event Director, commented: “Traffex continues to be the largest dedicated traffic management, road safety & mobility event in the UK. For more than 35 years it has been connecting over 10,000 forward thinking innovators with central government, local authorities and private businesses. And 2022 offers no exception as we celebrate getting back together again at the NEC in June. The quality of the programme, and variety of subjects covered, continues to be our top priority. We’re ensuring that our speaker line-up provides a platform for thought-leadership debate, and the opportunity to air key challenges and issues affecting the sector today. I am thrilled that our steering committee, representing pretty much the entire audience for Traffex, is on board as we build an exciting new programme for this year’s event.”

Traffex / Parkex takes place at the NEC in Birmingham from 14-16 June 2022. Visitors can register free of charge at www.traffex.com.
