Academy Training

The IHE Highway Engineering Academy offers industry-led training in highway engineering. Through one of our specialist training courses leading to an industry-recognised Professional Certificate or Diploma, the HEA delivers the qualifications, skills and knowledge demanded by the highways industry which are in short supply today.

Professional Development Partnerships are open to Highways Sector businesses, Local Government Authorities, Academic Institutions, Professional Engineering Institutes and other Highways interest based organisations.


We administer the registers for Highway Inspectors and Road Safety Auditors as well as manage our active forums contributed to by highways professionals.

Scotland Branch – Election of Branch Officers and Committee 2023/4

IHE’s 6th Scottish Branch’s Annual General Meeting is being held this year as an online event on Wednesday 12th April 2023 @ 16:00 hours. Details will be forwarded shortly.

The Scottish Branch is keen to see a wider representation of volunteers to help to run the Branch and to assist with the organisation of local events.

The Branch Committee prides itself in its proactive approach to delivering beneficial events for the membership, but is only as strong as that membership and therefore need your assistance. The committee normally meets four/five times a year. For the past two years during the pandemic the Committee Meetings and the Branch AGM has been mainly online events. It is the Committee intention to follow this format now with the occasional face to face Committee Meeting.

If you feel that the time has come for you to put something back into your Institute, and you would like to stand as a Committee Member, please arrange for the nomination form (below) to be completed and returned by Monday, 20th March 2023 to the Branch Secretary at

Graham Drummond will continue as Branch Chairman for his second year. Gordon Brown will stand down as Vice Chairman and Gary Neil will stand down as Secretary. Gary will remain as a committee member.

You will see from the list of Branch Officers and Committee Members for 2023/2024 in the document below that we are short of representation in some areas.
