Safer roads for motorcyclists

  • Tuesday September 19, 2023

Proving you can’t keep a good man down, IHE Council Member and past President Tony Sharp recently represented the IHE alongside the Federation of European Motorcyclists’ Associations (FEMA), the Swedish Motorcycle Association and worldwide motorcycle safety specialists, in producing the report Safer Roads for Motorcyclists – Moving Towards a Systematic Approach for Motorcycle Safety.

This report should be essential reading along with the IHE Motorcycling Guidelines, which it references, to a broad range of stakeholders, road authorities and policy and decisionmakers, through to researchers and project sponsors.

Mr Sharp commented: ‘Working on the report with so many dedicated road safety professionals from across Europe and Australia it was good to see the progress that has been made in motorcycle safety since the IHE Motorcycling Guidelines were published in the early 2000s.

‘Hopefully we’ll be able to include a lot of that same new and evolving guidance when we update the IHE Guidelines which is planned for 2024.’
