Safe Use of Automated Lane Keeping System (ALKS)

  • Monday May 24, 2021

The government has published its findings following the consultation on Automated Lane Keeping System (ALKS).

The document summarises the responses to the Call for Evidence and sets out the Government’s response. In particular, the document sets out the Government’s process for listing automated vehicles under the Automated and Electric Vehicles Act 2018 (AEVA). This includes applying the Monitoring and Control Tests, as set out in the Call for Evidence, which have been amended to take account of the responses received. It also highlights several policy areas, for example driver education, where further work is needed and sets out next steps.
