Professional Registration

Academy Training

The IHE Highway Engineering Academy offers industry-led training in highway engineering. Through one of our specialist training courses leading to an industry-recognised Professional Certificate or Diploma, the HEA delivers the qualifications, skills and knowledge demanded by the highways industry which are in short supply today.

Professional Development Partnerships are open to Highways Sector businesses, Local Government Authorities, Academic Institutions, Professional Engineering Institutes and other Highways interest based organisations.

IHE seeking new members for Council 2024

Have you ever thought about seeking nomination to the IHE National Council? Now is your opportunity.

The IHE has a number of vacancies coming up for those wishing to join Council as of the next AGM due to be held on 21st June 2024.

Sitting on the IHE Council provides you as a member of the Institute, the opportunity to help steer the Institute’s strategy and direction for the future. Any subscribing member of the IHE can seek nomination to sit on Council, and all members are encouraged to support the Institute by considering putting themselves forward for election.

Commitment

Nominees will be expected to dedicate at least 5 days per year, three of which will be for attendance at Council meetings and two days per year supporting the IHE in attendance at national events such as exhibitions, conferences etc. 

The Process

The process is simple and requires you to get six IHE members to support your nomination, which will then enable your name to go forward to an open ballot of members.

  • Nominations open: Monday 26th February – 5pm, Friday 29th March 2024
  • Election process: Tuesday 2nd April – 5pm, Friday 26th April 2024

Successful candidates will be notified during week commencing 6th May and in accordance with our Memorandum and Articles these will be formally announced at the AGM on 21st June and published in Highways Magazine. 

An email will be sent out to all members next week.

The vacancies that are available are for:

  • 7 Ordinary Members – Open to any Corporate Member, serving for a term of 4 years.
  • 1 Regional Member – Open to any Corporate Member, serving for a term of 4 years.
  • 1 Student Member – Open to any Student Member, serving for a term of 2 years.
