NEPC Addressing the UK’s Ageing Infrastructure
We are excited to announce the opportunity for IHE members to represent our institution in a prestigious project initiated by the National Engineering Policy Centre (NEPC). This new project will be launched by the Royal Academy of Engineering and aims to address the challenges posed by the UK’s ageing infrastructure.
The initiative will focus on promoting urgent policy changes and developing approaches to increase safety, resilience and sustainability across the UK’s infrastructure.
Your involvement is important as:
- You can influence policy making by playing a key role in shaping national policy. By taking part you will ensure that decisions are informed by a wide range of expertise and practical insights from across the engineering sector
- You will contribute to addressing the safety risks in infrastructure and help create a safer infrastructure across the UK.
- Your contribution will help further establish the IHE as the leading authority on Highways, increasing the influence of the IHE and ensuring that the voices of our members are heard at a national level.
The Royal Academy of Engineering have specifically requested the IHE’s involvement, as they recognise the invaluable contribution that our members can bring.
We have been requested to submit a diverse shortlist of candidates from which they will select the individuals to join the project’s working group.
The project is scoped for 12 months, and we are looking for volunteers who can commit to the working group over this period. Given the urgency the working group is expected to be confirmed by the Autumn, so we need to act quickly in identifying the right candidates.
If you are interested in representing the IHE and contributing to this significant initiative, please express your interest by the 31 August 2024 to Cyrena.lafronte@theihe.org.
We encourage members from diverse backgrounds and a range of expertise to apply, ensuring that we present a comprehensive and varied perspective to the Royal Academy of Engineering.
