IHE Executive Board enjoys virtual highways awards
- Tuesday February 9, 2021

Similar to everyone else in the Highway sector, the Institute of Highway Engineers looked forward eagerly to the first ever virtual Highways Awards on Thursday 28th January 2021, and the IHE Executive Board joined in on a video call to watch the night’s events.
The Institute is immensely proud to continue its support of these important awards and the IHE has been involved since its inaugural year back in the early 2000’s.
The members of the Executive Board thoroughly enjoyed watching the event and all agreed that the whole production was well organised and professionally presented by Colin Murray and Highways editor Dominic Brown.
The IHE would like to congratulate everyone who won an award and offer our commiserations to those who were shortlisted in their respective categories. It must be remembered that simply getting shortlisted in these awards is a distinct effort in itself and should be celebrated equally as hard as being crowned the winner, our well earnt congratulations go out to out to all who contributed.
Steve Spender the IHE’s CEO said “These awards are eagerly awaited each year and Highways must be congratulated in ensuring they went ahead as usual, albeit in a virtual form. It was my great pleasure to be able to attend in person at such a unique event.”
Stephen Webb IHE President and 2020 Head Judge added “As a Judging Panel we were delighted to see a significant increase in submissions received, and this is a testament to our industry. This year’s entries demonstrated strength in depth, both in quality and best practice and my congratulations goes out to all the award winners and those who were highly commended”.
