IHE and Highways magazine sign new Professional Development Partnership

  • Friday February 23, 2024

Highways magazine and the Institute of Highway Engineers have signed a new Professional Development Partnership (PDP), strengthening their longstanding relationship at the heart of the sector.

As both the leading magazine and professional body in the industry, the relationship is based on a mutual ambition to promote the work of highways colleagues and maintain their vital position in the UK economy and infrastructure landscape.

Both Highways and the IHE are dedicated to helping keep road workers safe and upholding the highest professional and engineering standards – while also promoting innovation, and ensuring the growth of the industry and its engineering knowledge.

Having been in partnership since 2013, the pair have helped support and foster education, training and best practice for thousands of members and aspiring engineers through collaboration on a range of training services, editorial offers, platforms and conferences.

The IHE’s sitting president is always the head judge for the coveted Highways Awards, where they make a ‘State of the Nation’ speech every year. As part of the ongoing relationship Highways magazine is distributed to every IHE member, and every month the magazine covers the latest IHE news.

The institute also provides CPD accreditation for all Highways events, where it receives a free stand and speaking opportunities.

Highways editor Dominic Browne said: ‘One thing I noticed straight away when entering this role is that the IHE is like a family. They are also like family to Highways magazine.

‘Our partnership together is one the key pillars in this industry, ensuring there is an independent voice at its heart, to support and challenge this amazing sector, and a professional body that is fiercely loyal to its members – ensuring that our highway engineers have the very best training today and are prepared for whatever the future may hold. Together, I think we celebrate and we represent the very best of this amazing profession.’

IHE chief executive Steve Spender: ‘The institute is really proud and pleased to continue its long-lasting and beneficial relationship with Highways magazine. Which we are always pleased shows our joint commitment to supporting the sector in as many ways as we possibly can.’
