DfT Consultation – allowing motorcycles to use bus lanes by default

The Department for Transport (DfT) are currently consulting on the topic of allowing motorcyclists access to bus lanes. As a member of the IHE, we can provide a collective response to this consultation.

Your contributions are important on shaping our stance on this matter.

Please share your thoughts on the following:

How far do you agree or disagree with the following statement: ‘Local authorities should continue to be able to choose whether to allow motorcycles to use bus lanes on their networks’. Please provide an explanation for your reply.
How far do you agree or disagree with the following statement: ‘If it is safe to do so, motorcycles should be allowed to access bus lanes by default’. Please provide an explanation for your reply.
