New Student Council member elected
- Monday June 23, 2025
Adam Coupland has been elected to become a new student Council member and was formally welcomed to the position at our AGM on 12th June.
He is studying for an MEng in Civil Engineering at Swansea University and as the subject representative of 1st year civil engineers, Mr Coupland has already created a sense of community among his cohort.
Recognising the importance of the connections between students and industry, he is keen to create a strong early relationship with companies and industry contacts. Having already contacted many large companies within the sector and become a student member of many institutions, Mr Coupland has begun to establish good industry links and has even arranged a site visit for his cohort.
Mr Coupland said: ‘I am passionate about increasing interaction between students and industry and hope to be an advocate for student opportunities within my role as the CPD Officer of the Swansea Civil Engineering Society and on a larger scale within the IHE.’
IHE President, Katharine Kelly said: ‘We look forward to Adam’s participation in Council activities as he has already demonstrated his willingness to represent his peers within university life.’
Mr Coupland will join IHE’s other student member on Council, Kelly Durham-Flinter, from Coventry University.
