Jolly Good Fellows
- Tuesday November 19, 2024
This year’s Highways Awards in central London was the perfect opportunity to celebrate some of the IHE’s biggest stars.
The evening saw two longstanding IHE members recognised. Gafoor Din (left) was awarded an IHE Honorary Fellowship for his outstanding service to the industry and Richard Hayes, already an honorary fellow, took to the stage to receive his Michael Conway MBE Community Leaders Award.
Representing the IHE at the event was President Katharine Kelly, alongside Past Presidents Martin Polland and Stephen Webb, all of whom have had the honour of serving on the judging panel.
Ms Kelly also delivered a welcome speech to kick off the evening’s celebrations, which the IHE proudly attended as a legacy sponsor of the Apprentice of the Year Award, which this year went to Poppy Kennedy of Marlborough Highways.

Sharing the IHE table were the winners of the Institute’s own prestigious awards for Best Submission of the Year: the EngTech category was won by Anton Barenburg (far right, IEng was won by Catherine Cobb (to his left and CEng by Karl Snell (to her left).
They were presented with their awards by IHE CEO Steve Spender, who congratulated them on the exceptional quality of their professional review submissions.
Commenting on their achievements, Ms Kelly said: ‘The breadth and depth of knowledge displayed in the winners’ portfolios was really impressive and it’s exciting to witness the impact these three will have in their respective industry roles.’
