The revised Traffic Signs Manual is coming! Several chapters of this Department for Transport guidance are expected to be published shortly, with the remainder to follow. The main theme this year is therefore to hear from DfT and other speakers about the expanded guidance and other changes, and to reflect upon how this will help highway and traffic authorities and what changes they may make as a result.

Delegates will also learn about amendments to TSRGD and the civil enforcement legislation, the recommendations for signing Clean Air Zones, and other topical items from the field of traffic signs and road markings.

In the afternoon, other speakers will reflect upon how the 2016 TSRGD has bedded in, and the uses authorities have made of the new flexibilities. They will also be candid about what difficulties remain and the extent to which traffic signing is often still not given the importance it deserves for the sake of an attractive, usable and, above all, safe highway.

This is the foremost event for traffic signing professionals, established 25 years ago. It is CPD accredited, as it provides essential training and updating of knowledge in this rapidly developing field.

The conference will be accompanied by the usual exhibition showcasing innovative products from the UK’s leading suppliers of traffic sign hardware, software and services.

Speakers include:

  • Caroline Sheppard OBE, Traffic Penalty Tribunal
  • Wayne Duerden, DfT
  • John Bennett, DfT
  • Sally Gibbons, DfT
  • Peter Bell, Lancashire CC
  • Matthew Youell, Highways England
  • Bryn Buck, Royal Haskoning DHV
  • Claire Harrison, TfL
  • Simon Morgan, Buchanan Computing

Who should attend?

Everyone involved in the design, specification, manufacture or enforcement of traffic signs, traffic engineers, urban designers, town centre managers and others involved in reducing clutter and intrusion.
