Our vision is to be the Institute of Choice for Highway Engineers. Our mission is to provide professional development opportunities, support and leadership for individuals to achieve and maintain professional recognition.

Academy Training

The IHE Highway Engineering Academy offers industry-led training in highway engineering. Through one of our specialist training courses leading to an industry-recognised Professional Certificate or Diploma, the HEA delivers the qualifications, skills and knowledge demanded by the highways industry which are in short supply today.

The IHE Middle East Branch would like to invite you to this joint online CPD event with the CIHT East Midlands Branch on Wednesday 22nd November 2023.

In this webinar, Dr. Federico Perrotta and Dr. Bachar Hakim will take a glimpse around current best practice and the future of Road Asset Management. To start with, our colleagues will touch on current standards, processes, data and how digital tools are allowing practitioners to drive best practice in industry. Finally, outcomes from a couple of case studies, where combination of standard practice and innovative thinking have really made a difference in planning for the right level of resources required to keep the road infrastructure open to traffic, safely, at all times, will be presented.

Presenters

Dr Federico Perrotta is Principal Consultant at AECOM Limited, with experience in the areas of Transportation, Pavement Design, Asset Management and Road Safety. Federico is Chartered with both the UK and Italian Engineering Councils, and he has a PhD in Transportation Engineering, from the University of Nottingham. Passionate about his job, Federico makes use of his background in Research, Computer Programming and Big Data Analytics to model complex physical problems, automate processes and support clients reduce inefficiencies through innovation.

 

Dr Bachar Hakim is Head of the Roads Asset Management sub-sector at AECOM Limited. Bachar is a highly experienced technical specialist with an international profile. He represents the Association for Consultancy and Engineering at UKPLG steering group, he sits on HDM4 Global Board, BSI 553 Geosynthetics committee and ICE Transport Journal Editorial Board. He is co-author of dozens of publications in various prestigious conference proceedings and journals. He co-developed the International Road Federation (IRF) Green House Gas Calculator “CHANGER” and he is Engineering Advisor to the School of Civil Engineering at Nottingham University.
