The IHE Scotland Branch would like to invite you to their next technical webinar on Tuesday 24th March.
As the highways industry strives for lower carbon emissions and greater efficiency, traditional repair methods are often challenged by waste and longevity issues. Thermal Road Repair offers a permanent, seamless solution to defects like potholes and joint failures. This CPD event will explore the technology behind thermal repairs, detailing how it recycles existing asphalt in-situ to deliver a high-quality finish with zero waste.
What the session will cover:
- The Technology: Understanding how thermal heating systems work to reheat and recycle existing surface.
- Sustainability: Analysis of carbon reduction compared to traditional cut-and-break methods.
- Application: Best use cases, from pothole repair to utility trench reinstatement, footways, airports, ironwork bedding etc.
- Longevity: Examining the durability of thermal bonds versus cold joints.
Speaker : Sean McGuiness, Commercial Director: Sean is a specialist in highway maintenance innovation. He is passionate about sustainable repair technologies and has extensive experience helping local authorities and contractors implement thermal repair solutions to improve network durability.
Following the presentation there will be the usual Q&A session where Sean will address key questions such as:
- How does the long-term durability of a thermal repair compare to a traditional “cut and fill” patch?
- What are the operational limitations regarding weather conditions or specific asphalt mix types (e.g., SMA vs. HRA)?
- How does thermal repair aid in reducing the carbon footprint of reactive maintenance?
If any members would care to raise any questions before the event, please send them to the email address of scotland@theihe.org
You must register to attend. This event is CPD accredited by the IHE.
