Our vision is to be the Institute of Choice for Highway Engineers. Our mission is to provide professional development opportunities, support and leadership for individuals to achieve and maintain professional recognition.

Professional Registration

Academy Training

The IHE Highway Engineering Academy offers industry-led training in highway engineering. Through one of our specialist training courses leading to an industry-recognised Professional Certificate or Diploma, the HEA delivers the qualifications, skills and knowledge demanded by the highways industry which are in short supply today.

Professional Development Partnerships are open to Highways Sector businesses, Local Government Authorities, Academic Institutions, Professional Engineering Institutes and other Highways interest based organisations.

Join us for a comprehensive session where we explore the integration of See.Sense’s innovative crowdsourced cycling sensor data into active travel planning in the UK and internationally. The webinar will cover the significance of high-quality data in designing and maintaining infrastructure and delve into how See.Sense data contributes to safety improvements and the monitoring of path conditions. Participants will learn about the ‘before and after’ analysis of infrastructure performance, with practical examples illustrating the impact. The presentation will also introduce cutting-edge real-time data applications for Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), including ‘green wave’ and ‘glosa’ techniques. The session will wrap up with a Q&A segment, providing insights on how See.Sense data can be leveraged for more sustainable and efficient urban transport solutions.

Irene McAleese is Co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer at See.Sense, a cycling and micromobility technology and data company on a mission to help cities transform for more cycling and sustainable travel. Irene leads strategy, partnerships, and marketing, helping to grow See.Sense into one of the UK’s leading scaleups. Irene is a Member of Cycling Industry Europe’s Connected Cycling and ITS Expert Group, a Diversity Board Adviser to the UK Bicycle Association, and the Winner of Northern Ireland Women in Business Award for Best Small Business.
