Full Details

Passive Safety UK invites you to their 2023 Passive Safety Conference and Workshop. Whether you are very familiar with passive safety design but need a refresher/updating, or you would just like to learn the basics, this Conference and workshop is for you.

The conference will include a hands-on workshop session and will also be integrated with a large exhibition of passive products and experts from industry will be on hand to explain how their products work. Delegates will also be offered the chance to see at first-hand some of these passive products being made/assembled in a series of free to attend factory visits during 2023.

Passive Safety UK will also be presenting an updated version of the latest UK National Guidelines, incorporating a 2023 comprehensive listing of all available products and their EN 12767
classifications.

In July 2022 a national crash demonstration event took place, during which combinations of passively safe roadside items were impacted, in a series of remote-controlled demonstrations. A further test was conducted on a NE rated sign post placed within the working width of a barrier system. Presentations will include film footage and electronic data recording within the vehicles to demonstrate if the passive safety performance of the items is affected by their use in this way.

The Passive Safety Standard – EN 12767:2019 does not specifically deal with the testing of these combinations of items and so this is a valuable insight into real world performance of products tested to EN 1317 & EN 12767.

This event is endorsed by The Institute of Highway Engineers and the Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation and a full days CPD credit is available.

This Conference is also endorsed by National Highways.

“Passively safe structures play a key role in making the road environment more forgiving. However, it is important that designers re aware of and understand the current standard to allow them to design and specify appropriate products to ensure that the positive safety benefits are achieved. National Highways welcomes initiatives to educate and  inform designers and specifiers to improve safety and I am happy to support this conference”.
Jim Gallagher BSc (Hons) CEng MICE, Principal Structures Advisor Safety, Engineering and Standards Structures Policy, National Highways.

The event takes place on 19th April 2023 at the National Conference Centre – Birmingham (Near J42 – J6). Delegate places are £195.00 (No VAT). A 15% discount is available for CIHT and IHE members. Places are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment. Please contact info@passivesafetyuk.com for further information and/or to book a place.
