APPG for better roads hits Westminster
- Wednesday April 22, 2026
The IHE and our partners in the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Better Roads, the Asphalt Industry Alliance and guests from Street Works UK recently attended a drop-in session for MPs at Westminster. The main focus of the two-hour session was to discuss how utility reinstatements could be improved to minimise disruption to road-users and limit structural impact on the highway network, as well as consider the potential benefits of creating a road works commissioner for England, like that of Scotland.
The Parliamentarians who attended included Lincoln Jopp MP, Claire Young MP and Andy McNae MP, also took the opportunity to talk about highway maintenance, funding and skills in the sector. Chair of the APPG, Rebecca Paul MP, shows endless enthusiasm for the group, bringing her previous local council experience and drumming up the support of her fellow MPs.
IHE was represented by president Katharine Kelly and chief executive Lyle Andrew.
