Academic Professional Partnerships: A Day at Loughborough University
- Thursday January 29, 2026
As part of our commitment to developing closer cooperation with academic institutions, we were delighted to take part in the School of Architecture, Building, and Civil Engineering Research and Innovation Showcase at Loughborough University on Wednesday 28th January.
Loughborough is one of our valued Academic‑Professional Partners, a formal partnership designed to enhance support and provide advice and guidance for students as they explore professional membership and routes toward registration within the highways sector.
During the Showcase, we had the opportunity to hear about a wide range of innovative research projects and explore some of the university’s cutting‑edge facilities, including:
- 3D concrete printing laboratories
- Slope stability research facilities
- DigiLabs digital engineering environments
These insights highlight exactly why our Academic‑Professional Partnership Scheme exists: to foster strong relationships with universities and help ensure that students studying civil engineering – particularly those with an interest in highways – receive the professional guidance and industry context needed to support their development.
Events like this reinforce the value of collaboration between the IHE and our academic partners. By working closely with institutions such as Loughborough University, we continue to support the next generation of engineers and strengthen the pathways that lead from academic study to professional practice.
