As Christmas approaches it's time to look back at 2015 and look forward to what the coming year may bring.
The IHE along with our trusted partners the Asphalt Industry Alliance jointly hosted a lunch for the All Party Parliamentary Group on Highways Maintenance where we announced IHE’s proposal to create a national Highway Engineering Academy.
In recent months we have been asking for feedback on the skills and resources shortage being experienced by our members and the wider highways engineering community. I would like to thank everyone who responded and wanted to let you know that your comments were all taken on board.
The IHE is co-sponsoring the All Part Parliamentary Group for Highways Maintenance this year and will be raising the issue of the skills and resource shortage in the Highways Sector at the next meeting in November.

It was my very great pleasure and honour to celebrate the IHE’s 50th anniversary at the House of Lords on Wednesday the 10th of June. Baroness Scott of Needhan Market kindly hosted a luncheon for over one hundred IHE members and honoured guests.
As part of our 50th year celebrations we are conferring a number of new Honorary Fellowships. We announced the first of these earlier this year when Professor Margaret Bell kindly accepted our invitation.
