Rachael Langfield is fundraising for Cancer Research UK

As most of you know I (foolishly!) started training for a triathlon back in January. Well, I decided that its pointless to do all this effort without using the opportunity to try and raise some money for a good cause. The triathlon takes place 2 weeks before the Race For Life, and as Cancer Research UK is a charity I already support it seemed appropriate to combine my two events to try and raise a bit more.

So, on 11th June I will be competing (and completing!) in the super sprint women's triathlon at Rother Valley Country Park. This consists of a 200m swim, 10km bike, and a 4km run, completed one straight after the other. And then on 26th June I will be completing the Race for Life 5km run at Doncaster town fields.

I've never been the most athletic of people; my school running career consisted of the 100m dash on sports day, and when I started training back in January I couldn't even manage that! The swimming is falling into place finally, but having not done front crawl for nearly 25 years its been a bit of a slog. And the cycling? Well, lets just say thats the least of my worries!

So if you could spare a few quid to boost my sponsorship fund I'll be a very happy bunny, and it gives me that bit more of an incentive to complete both races. Follow the link below which will take you to my online sponsorship page.

Thanks!!!

IHE at Traffex 2011

Thanks to Highways, IHE had a stand at Traffex 2011.

It was a great sucess - not least due to the many members who turned out to staff the stand and advise interested visitors.
