Highway Safety Inspectors

IHE is administering the UK Highway Inspectors training and certification scheme.

The UK Roads Board approved the scheme on 26 October 2010 and the Highway Inspectors Board has been set up in November 2011.

The training standards are already incorporated into the 2009 updates to Well Maintained Highways Appendix C and Risk & Liability Claims. Prior to the 2011 updates, you can download the latest version here.

It was agreed that any candidate who successfully completes the courses run by the approved centres would be eligible for inclusion on the National Register of Highway Inspectors. A fee of £20 would be charged. Registration would remain in place for a period of five years.

The Board agreed that any candidates who successfully completed the courses run by the approved centres within the last five years would be eligible for inclusion on the National Register at a fee of £20.

The IHE have agreed to waive fees for the registration for existing IHE members.

The Board have agreed to seek all requests for registration through the approved Centres.
