Training
IHE leads the field in the provision of training and information for transport development management practitioners.
The Introduction to Development Management
In 2005, in partnership with the Southern and Eastern Development Control Forum and TMS, the Institute launched a comprehensive four day training course for engineers new to highway development management. After completing four marked assignments, delegates are awarded a Foundation Certificate.
The course can be followed up with an interview which tests applicants rounded competence at Foundation (technician) level and leads to an IHE Professional Certificate and can link into an NVQ3 and EngTech registration.
The Professional Certificate is also open to those who have sufficient experience and who don't need to attend the training programme. There are no entry requirements nor do you have to be a member of IHE.
Scotland
*In Scotland, the Scottish Executive has commissioned Transport Scotland with JMP to provide a similar assessed 6 day course tailored to Scottish law and practice. This course is also recognised by IHE. Contact: Ken Aitken.
