- As a Licensed institution of the Engineering Council: one of 15 institutions with a seat on the Board, IHE is licensed to register CEngs, IEngs, EngTechs and to accredit training for IEng and EngTech.
- As a full member of the Construction Industry Council
- As a member of the CIC Construction Industry Standards Committee developing vocational qualifications.
- As a partner in the Engineering UK promoting engineering.
- As a partner with ICE and IStructE in the Joint Board of Moderators. The JBM accredits built environment and engineering degrees. IHE is licensed by the Engineering Council to accredit courses for CEng, IEng and EngTech.
- As a supporter of WISE, women into science and engineering.
- As a Collective Member of the World Roads Association.
- As an Awarding Body Partnership - The National Forum for Transportation Skills with OUVS NVQ awards in highway maintenance, traffic, transportation and road safety NVQs.
- As an EdExcel (BTEC) steering committee member redrafting NCs, HNCs, and HNDs in construction and civil engineering.
- As a member of the ADEPT (formerly CSS) Training Group.
